The Himalayas are some of the most breath-taking mountains in the world, as they contain ten of the world’s tallest mountain peaks. Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world, is in the Himalayas. The Himalaya Mountains are located across the middle portion of Asia, and tourists can view awe-inspiring snow-capped mountain tops, lush meadows, gorgeous lakes, and beautiful glaciers.

The Himalaya Mountains were formed millions of years ago because of powerful movements in of the earth. Eight of the ten highest peaks of the mountain range are in Nepal, and most of the peaks are covered with snow year-round.

The mountains are 1,500 miles long and 250 miles wide. Mount Everest, which is the highest peak, is 8,864 meters.

There are many natural parks in the Himalayas; therefore, many species of birds and other types of animals call the mountains home. Most areas of the mountains contain harsh climates, and it gets colder the higher a person gets.

Winters are very cold and receive an abundance of snowfall, and the summer months are milder. April to June and September to November are the best times of the year to visit the region. However, there are many people who enjoy the winter months in the Himalayas, as there are many winter sports and winter carnivals held in the mountains.

So Many Things to Do

There are so many things to do in the fascinating mountains. For those who really love adventure, river rafting is a popular activity, as the Himalayas are home to the best rafting rivers in the world. India and Nepal contain some of the best areas to go river rafting.

The wildlife of the mountains is incredible, as guests can see tigers, elephants, deer, boar, crocodiles, and pythons. As travellers reach higher peaks, they can view blue sheep and musk deer. If you happen to be extremely fortunate you might catch a glimpse of the incredibly rare and remarkable snow leopards.

One of the best ways for an individual to enjoy the wonders of the magnificent Himalayas is to go camping. There are numerous camp sites that offer hiking, fishing, and nature-tours.

Other things to do in the Himalayas include jeep or jungle safaris, riding motorbikes, cycling, rock climbing and trekking. The mountains will offer tourists an amazing adventure full of wonder and beauty. The Himalaya Mountains will give travellers an adventure of a lifetime.
