Aeroplane

Travel companies have been given an amnesty of 1 month to adhere to new Atol regulations despite claims that the revise holiday protection scheme is unfair.

Atol is the licensing scheme that operates to repatriate stranded holidaymakers if their holiday company collapses. It has released the new rules which come into effect today which are known as Flight-Plus.

Until now just package holidays have been covered by the scheme but the new rules aim to extend cover to those taking holidays that have flights and accommodation booked separately but used together. read more…

The Himalayas are some of the most breath-taking mountains in the world, as they contain ten of the world’s tallest mountain peaks. Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world, is located in the Himalayas. The Himalaya Mountains are located across the middle portion of Asia, and tourists can view awe-inspiring snow-capped mountain tops, lush meadows, gorgeous lakes and beautiful glaciers.

The Himalaya Mountains were formed million of years ago as a result of powerful movements in of the earth. Eight of the ten highest peaks of the mountain range are located in Nepal, and most of the peaks are covered with snow year-round.

The mountains are 1,500 miles long and 250 miles wide. Mount Everest, which is the highest peak, is 8,864 meters. read more…

The Lake District

The largest lake in the Lake District is Lake Windermere. It is over 10 miles long and a mile wide and a popular Cumbrian destination in for tourists and locals alike. At the lake there are cruises on steam boats that allow you to experience some of the most amazing views that are to be had from the water of the beautiful surrounding Cumbrian countryside in the relative silence as you traverse the lake by steam power. The lake is also popular for boating and sailing, you can often rent rowing boats if you wish. Masai Mara Plains

The thought of being in the middle of nowhere without the likes of Facebook, Twitter and mobile phones scares some people but for me that is the idea of heaven. If I was at home I have to admit I would be pretty lost without my technology, but I would happily sacrifice the technology to go on wildlife safari. If you say to someone that you are going on a holiday to Africa there is a very high chance that whoever you are telling will assume that it is a safari that you are going on.

A Kenyan safari is often a great choice for a holiday and that is where I am planning on going next year. I’m a keen photographer and a safari has always been right up there on my list of things to do along with storm chasing and photographing erupting volcanoes. I am already excited about seeing the Masai Mara and all that it has to offer first hand, so much so that my partner is getting sick of hearing about it… read more…
